Prof. Yasmine Fahmy

Professor

Yasmine Fahmy is a professor of telecommunication engineering with more than 25 years of experience in university teaching, scientific research, and academic leadership. She holds a PhD (2005), an MSc (2001), and a BSc (1999) in Electronics and Communications, all from Cairo University, where she graduated with distinction and ranked first in her undergraduate class.
Her professional experience is marked by leadership roles bridging academia and the telecommunication industry. She serves as a Professor at Nile University (since September 2025), previously held various academic and quality-focused director roles, including the Academic Director and Quality Director of the Digital Egypt Builder Initiative (DEBI) for the Minister of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) (August 2021 – Present). She was also the Vice-Director of the Center for Wireless Studies (CWS) at Cairo University, where she helped secure over 15 MLE in funding for research projects.
Prof. Fahmy has an extensive publication record, including over 100 papers in prestigious international journals and conferences, focusing on areas such as wireless communications, cognitive radio, 5G networks, 5G heterogeneous networks, cognitive radio sensor networks, massive MIMO systems, Visible Light Communications (VLC), and Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). and machine learning applications. She has successfully supervised more than 7 PhD dissertations and 25 MSc theses. She is committed to mentoring students to achieve their full potential.
