Architecture and Urban Design program host Dr. Nahla Emam

Nile University

The Architecture and Urban Design program (ARUD) at Nile University was honored to host Dr. Nahla Emam, the distinguished academic and Professor of Folk Habits, Beliefs, and Traditional Knowledge at the High Institute of Folklore, Academy of Arts. Dr. Emam, who also serves as the appointed Advisor to the Minister of Culture for Intangible Heritage Affairs, visited us at the ARUD program for a public lecture last Sunday, 5th of November.

Dr. Emam’s work is a true testament to her devotion to cultural preservation and the quest for the documentation and dissemination of traditional knowledge. She spoke with ARUD students about the importance of folk knowledge and understanding Egypt’s rich cultural heritage from a people-oriented lens. It linked well with ARUD’ thematic interest in people-centered design.

The lecture was open to all ARUD students and staff, and the ensuing dialogue was of high value. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Emam for sharing her time and knowledge with ARUD members.
