MENG Students Field Trip to GRANITO Factory for Porcelain and Ceramic Industries

As part of enhancing the students learning experience, students went on a field trip to the Granito factory. The factory has many advanced machines in the different fabrication stages and applies many sophisticated automation techniques with PLC and many other controllers, which are necessary for mechatronics Engineers to be aware of. Students explored the design and decoration center. Then the students explored different ceramic production lines with the following stages: Collecting the raw materials and determining mixing ratios/milling/formation of the ceramic-substrate/substrate compression to expel the air/glazing stages/printing techniques/drying/moving the printed ceramic to the burning stages via autonomous robots/preheating/furnaces with controlled temperature profile/cooling down stages/quality testing and classification/packaging.
