The Public Exhibition of ARUD Students’ Projects Regarding the Adaptive Reuse of Bayt Al-Razzaz Historical Monument

Nile University

The Architecture and Urban Design Program (ARUD) proudly showcased the final projects of students in the Spatial and Urban Dynamics course (ARUD325). The final module of this real-lifecases course addressed the adaptive reuse of Bayt Al-Razzaz, a significant monument in Al-Darb Al-Ahmar district of Historic Cairo. The exhibition was graced by the participation of two esteemed jurors: Dr. Omniya Abdel Barr, conservation architect and expert in Islamic art and architecture, who holds the position of Head of Development at the Egyptian Heritage Rescue Foundation, and Arch. Miral Nabil Kamel, the acting Director of the General Administration for Heritage Preservation in Cairo Governorate. The final project jury was held in the lobby of UBI Tarek Khalil Building at Nile University, where the students presented exceptional scenarios for the adaptive reuse of Bayt Al-Razzaz. Their projects were highly commendable by the academic and professional jurors, reflecting their understanding of multi-stakeholder realities and their readiness to advance in the field of architecture and urban design
