Dr. Bakinam is currently an assistant professor in the specialization of water resources with a doctorate in civil engineering focusing on the field of hydro informatics from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, USA 2017. She has created new approaches applying concepts from computer and data sciences to advance the state-of-the-art in hydrological modeling. Dr. Bakinam graduated from Cairo University in 2007 and got her master's from the same University in 2013. She has 15 years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, Graduate Research Assistant, Research Associate, and Project Engineer.
During her course of Ph.D. studies, she worked as a research associate on collaborative research funded by NSF in the USA, she also created a computational workflow and software to improve reproducibility in hydrologic modeling and analysis. Dr. Bakinam worked in the Ministry of Water Recourses and Irrigation in Egypt after she returned from the USA, as she was part of the general administration of Information, and Decision making within the planning sector of the ministry.
