ARUD’s First International Study Trip to Spain

Spain

The World Monuments Funds España kindly invited 11 ARUD students who were on their Architecture Study Trip to Spain to attend the City Lab and benefit from this international exposure to scholars and practitioners addressing key global challenges. Additionally, students visited ‘ Madinat Al Zahra Museum,’ which is an Aga Khan Award Winning project for Architecture in 2010. The experience benefited ARUD students in many ways, first through their guided tour of Madrid, a showcase European city in contemporary architecture and urban design, and Cordoba, the pinnacle of Islamic Moorish architecture. Second, their exposure to this reputable professional event co-organized by the UNESCO World Heritage City and World Monument Fund in their field of specialization. Not to mention the other non-academic benefits of traveling abroad, such as experiencing new places and cultures, making acquaintances, and gaining perspective.
