MOT M.Sc. The thesis defense for Nahla Hazem Hussein was held on Sunday, 3rd of January 2022, on the R floor under the supervision of Dr. Irene Samy. The committee consists of Professor Tarek Khalil, Professor Mohamed Mamdouh Awny, Professor Mohamed Omar Ezzat, Dr. Alaa Eldin Edris, and Dr. Hisham Gabr. The construction business in Egypt lacks the essential elements of an efficient ecosystem that deals with the construction practice related to new buildings, waste elimination and management, and the “occupants” health of new and existing buildings. Developing a well-thought-out green building rating system tailored to the Egyptian environment will be a guiding principle for the construction business. Accordingly, the significance of this thesis is developing a green building rating system whose elements, when strictly adopted, will preserve and maintain the health and environment in Egypt. The aim of the thesis is to establish two new and clear rating systems to be used in

(1) assessing the new construction 

(2) a second assessing system for the existing buildings will eliminate the current drawbacks of GPRS and TARSHEED rating systems and meet the Egyptian environmental needs.
