The Graduation Project "Three-wheel Autonomous Agricultural-Robot for Precise Weeding and Cultivating Crops Using Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing" Won ITAC Fund 2021

Mechatronics undergraduate project won ITAC fund "Our choice of agriculture to focus on is mainly triggered by its being the main supporter of the Egyptian economy. This project is an agricultural robot with the ability to weed, cultivate, and spray corn fields. Traditional Corn cultivation is an entirely manual process, which lacks precision and productivity, here, we aim to automate weeding, cultivating, and spraying by constructing a three-wheel autonomous robot.

To execute automatic weeding, a camera and vision sensors would be attached to the front side of the robot. While the robot is moving, the attached vision system will snap the field, and image processing the snapped shots with AI to recognize weeds. Then, the control unit commands the end effector which is facilitated with a cutting mechanism to chase all recognized weeds. For Spraying a sensor is used to analyze soil while the robot is moving to spray only the infected spots to mitigate the toxic effects of pesticides. For cultivating an optional automatic cultivator would be attached to the robot. The entire robot is planned to operate on solar energy.
