The School of Business had a Collaborative Partnership with the Architecture and Urban Design (ARUD) Program

At the School of Business Administration, we are excited to embark on a collaborative venture with the Architecture and Urban Design (ARUD) program at the School of Engineering and Applied Science for the Adaptive Reuse of the “Bayt Al-Razzaz” initiative. Supervised by Dr. Dina Shehayeb, Program Director of ARUD, this project aims to foster interdisciplinary synergy between ARUD and the Business School. Our students are actively integrating commercial and business dimensions into six project proposals developed by ARUD students for the Adaptive Reuse project.
Notably, three courses from the Business School have been seamlessly integrated into the project: Brand Management, Entrepreneurial Finance, and Marketing Research, under the expert guidance of Dr. Noha Alaa, Dr. Vasilya Sultanova, and Dr. Menna Kaoud. Collaborative meetings were held with both schools and relevant stakeholders, complemented by a guided tour of Old Cairo’s historical district led by Dr. Dina Shehayeb. The tour included a visit to Bayt Yakan, a meticulously restored 17th-century residence managed by Dr. Alaa Habashi, who graciously briefed our students on the house’s restoration process. Subsequently, we had the privilege of meeting with Dr. Omniya Abdel Barr, Head of Development at the Egyptian Heritage Rescue Foundation, and her team at Bayt El Razzaz, where we received a comprehensive overview of the house’s history and plans. Our students are fervently engaged in refining their projects, endeavoring to translate architectural concepts into commercially viable and executable ventures. We extend our gratitude to our Teaching Assistants from both schools: Ms. Sara Sayed, Ms. Menna Magdy, Ms. Haidy Hassan, and Ms. Sohad El Nagar for their invaluable support throughout this collaborative endeavor
