Design Thinking

Aim & Description

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ capabilities in organizing and performing the design process to suit the nature of each design problem as well as attain student-generated formulation of design objectives and program. It trains students to externalize the design thinking process, sharpening awareness to users’ needs through analytical tools and techniques, such as problem-solving techniques, operational definition of objectives, architectural programming, formulating design performance criteria leaving no consideration behind. The iterative cycles between intuitive creative thinking and systematic rational thinking empowers the students to better proceed from research and knowledge acquisition to design through the explicit mapping of the problem and requirements coupled by the deliberate formulation of design objectives and developing design criteria to guide solutions generation and evaluation.
