Informal Areas

This course addresses the root of informality and its effects based on a rights-based and social justice, strategy responding to the problems of informality, understanding the local community practices and power dynamics. It focuses on know-how of engaging the different stakeholders (public sector authorities, local government, NGOs, CBOs,…) building upon the potential to partner, regulate local community practices, addressing contextualizing global policies with relevance  to informal areas, the possibilities to reform urban development mechanisms towards decreasing informality and the formation of new informal areas.
