About Civil and Infrastructure Engineering and Management

 Mission

The program’s mission is to prepare graduates for professional careers in civil and construction engineering, capable of utilizing smart design concepts and materials, and adopt sustainable planning, operation, and maintenance. The program provides undergraduates with high-quality education, using modern teaching, learning and research methodologies, to acquire competencies of innovation, entrepreneurship, long-life learning, communication, leadership, and teamwork. This enables our graduates to effectively engage in regional/international industrial communities, commit to work ethics and social responsibilities, and continue to postgraduate studies.

Program Objectives:

The graduates of the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering & Management (CIEM) program at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Nile University, within several years, should meet the requirements of sustainable development of society to achieve environmental preservation with their ability to continuously self-learn, considering a system that adheres to the ethics of the profession by performing the following roles:

  • Apply fundamental and principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to identify, characterize, and solve civil and construction engineering problems. Scientifically and technically equipped to practice the civil engineering profession as a newly graduated engineer, or to join postgraduate programs either in construction engineering and management or structural engineering.
  • Apply scientific and technical knowledge in career advancement, by adapting to changes in the civil and construction technologies and demonstrating commitment to ethical and professional conduct. Able to identify engineering problems in construction management, and accurately characterize these problems systematically to reach appropriate sustainable solutions and to be able to communicate results with others.
  • Develop resilient, smart, and sustainable solutions for civil and construction engineering designs considering the impact of these solutions in a global and societal context. Capable of successfully improving the career in construction management, and ready to take responsibility and leadership positions due to effective teamwork abilities and problem-solving following an organized approach.
  • Acquire communication and leadership skills and be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team while fostering a culture of innovation, and entrepreneurial success. Prepared to work in broad fields of civil engineering and to acquire the science and technical skills in various specializations of the civil and construction engineering program, through the achievement of a group of courses satisfying the university, school and program requirements. As well as the acquisition of additional science and technical skills in areas of general major core (Construction Engineering and Management or Smart Structural Engineering) through compulsory courses and major electives courses.
  • Develop abilities of life-long learning and pursue postgraduate studies in the field of civil and construction engineering.
