Elective I: Mapping Preferences

The aim of this course is to present specific methods and techniques, developed in social sciences (particularly environmental psychology), for mapping lay people preferences. In particular, the focus will be put on the coding, decoding, analysis and interpretation of “subjective” data, to be compared to “objective” data concerning the same environmental feature (e.g., urban greens, residential choice,…). The course will build upon what ICT offers in the field of mapping, exploring what is termed ‘soft’ GIS.
