Mega Cities

The course emphasizes the challenges faced by mega cities ranging from climate change challenges to density and population, mobility and fair spatial distribution of urban opportunity. It introduces the students to knowledge in selected aspects and international trends in urban management, economic diversity, as well as innovative practices and tools in spatial planning such as; transit-oriented planning, humanizing Smart Cities, monitoring and evaluation practices, using advanced tools such as GIS, City Engine and up-to-date AI applications. The course adopts a people-centered approach towards the utilization of technology and innovation to re-establish the human dimension as the core value of settlement design and management.
