About Electronics and Computer Engineering

Mission & Objectives

  • The Electronics and Computer Engineering program aims to provide an excellent educational level for students by providing graduates with the theoretical and applied foundations necessary to solve problems scientifically and providing them with the awareness of the important role specialized engineering plays for the community in Egypt, and abroad.
  • The ECE program is committed to continuous improvement in the overall quality of learning, and scientific and academic research, with the effective participation of students who are the focus of the educational process.
  • The program bears the responsibility of participating in the scientific and technological progress in its field of specialization by providing the theoretical, practical, and technical basis for students to allow them to practice professional and research work, whether this work is in the industrial community or in the academic and research field so that education in the program becomes a suitable nucleus for completing postgraduate studies.
  • The program bears the professional responsibility to provide means of continuing education and specialized training for engineers working in the industry to develop their capabilities and provide them with the necessary skills to cope with the steady growth in technology that the world is currently witnessing.

Description

The field of Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE) is one of the most rapidly developing fields of engineering. Moreover, almost everything we use and rely on in our everyday lives has an electrical, electronic, and computing component.

The ECE program at Nile University is characterized by its flexibility and comprehensiveness to cope with the rate of technological development by offering a broad base of courses for students. The program relies on providing a solid scientific and technological basis for students, using modern practical applications through well-thought-out laboratory plans that enable the student to link the theoretical basis with the practical aspect of the program’s specializations by linking the academic study with the needs of the job market.

The ECE program at Nile University is divided into two specializations:

Electronics and Communication Engineering:

The ECE program will educate students on the basic principles of and modern practices in the fields of Electronics, Communication.

  • This track involves the development and application of electronic and optical technologies for generating, communicating, and processing information.
  • Our curriculum includes courses in electronic circuits, solid-state electronics, electromagnetics, optics, lasers, controls, digital signal processing, communications, and networks.
  • The track focuses on the design and analysis of electronic devices and circuits, photonics, electromagnetics, and analog and digital systems, including control, communication, and information systems.

Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering trains students to think independently, master the systematic approach to problem-solving, and have a keen awareness of the role of engineering in modern technological society.

  • This track involves the design and engineering of computers including hardware and software design. It is a carefully chosen combination of electrical and computer engineering and computer science courses to train students in the engineering of computers and computer systems and in the use of computers in many engineering applications.
  • These include Computer Architecture, Software Design, Robotics and Computer Vision, and Embedded Systems (i.e., the use of digital equipment to monitor and control physical systems).

The set of skills that ECE will acquire are going to be compatible with the needs of the market and society. The graduates will be:

  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing professionally with work participants.
  • Able to teach, learn, continually develop and acquire new skills.
  • Appreciate the surrounding social aspects that sometimes govern the design and development of products and services that are appropriate for the environment and the community in which he/she works.
  • Able to continue obtaining academic degrees higher than the bachelor's level (for distinguished students)
  • Familiar with mathematical, scientific, and technical basis for solving engineering problems in the field of electronics and computers.
  • Able to use and adapt the acquired knowledge to develop and design engineering products and systems in the field of specialization.
