Digital Logic Design

This course introduces basic issues in designing and verifying modern digital systems. Topics include Boolean algebra, digital number systems and computer arithmetic, combinational and sequential logic design and optimization, register-transfer design, basic processor organization, instruction set issues. Emphasis is on the levels of abstraction and hardware description language methods that allow designers to cope with hugely complex systems and on connections to practical hardware implementation problems. Students are introduced to computer-aided digital design software.
