CH:1.2

1. Be able to design machine elements by:
 discern the loading of one of these elements in a mechanical
 system,
 implement the calculation and selection criteria,
 use appropriate computing applications and databases computer.
2. Be able to perform and interpret technical specifications that
include the object machine elements of the course, using technical
language, and understanding the important design parameters in
each case.
3. Be able to provide fundamental knowledge in design methods,
mechanics and manufacturing systems
4. Be able to design, conduct and evaluate independently complex
calculations using finite element software. Ability to evaluate the
quality of the results
The subject will provide the student with:
• See how engineering problems can have different solutions. And
these solutions change as new technology, new materials, new
manufacturing methods, and new marketing conditions prevail.
• The present generation of students will inevitably use TIC to solve
engineering problems, in practice they will use Pc software for
selection and design of machine elements, and obtain a better
detail design.
The methodology used in the subject will promote:
• Teamwork as a need.
• Knowledge based Innovation fundamental for engineers.

• Computer Aided Design (CAD).
• Mechanical elements and systems: theoretical and practical
• approaches.
• Mechanics analysis: Kinematical design - Fundamental principles of
• dynamics
• Mechanical elements and systems - Conceptual design
• Axis and trees in the design of machines.
• Bearings, support rollers, turntable and linear guides.
• Rigid and flexible couplings.
• Brakes and clutches.
• Gears, kinds. Simplified calculation.
